South Padre Island Map

This map gives an overview of the entire island. As with all the maps, you can press the Map, Satellite, and Hybrid buttons to get a different view of the map. One of the first things you will notice on this map is South Padre Island a long narrow strip. Even though the total area composes almost 2 square miles, most of the island takes on an almost rectangular shape as most of the island's distance from east to west is under 1/2 a mile. In addition, in the lower left hand corner, you will realize the Queen Isabella Causeway is quite long as it spans two miles in length.

Another point of reference is to recognize the bay (Laguna Madre) is to the east of island and the Gulf of Mexico is to the left.  This results in sunrises being best viewed on the gulfside and sunsets best seen on the bayside.

This island also has a large number of attractions that span between the Andy Bowie Park in the north all the way to the south with Isla Blanca County Park.  In addition, it has 13 beach access points to the Gulf and 3 public boat ramps.
