Transportation options in South Padre Island are like you would expect in any tourist town. We have cab services, a bus service, and even rent out vehicles like buggies and scooters. You should be able to find something to accommodate your transportation needs here at South Padre.

Cab Services

Getting a cab is popular among visitors who plan to go out drinking.

This is a good idea because it allows you to enjoy the party experience more and be less concerned about things like driving or walking back to your room a little disoriented. Plus, by not drinking and driving you ensure your safety and the safety of others. Finally, the South Padre Island Police are very strict on enforcing all kinds of violations and laws including those pertaining to drunk driving and public intoxication. It is best to avoid this situation if you can so we recommend calling a cab.

Bus Service

South Padre Island offers a free bus service. This is great for getting around the island when you do not have a vehicle. Also, it can save you some time as you do not have to look around for a parking space and allows you rest as someone else does the driving. Finally, I did say it was a free service so you will definitely want to strongly consider it.

Scooters

A popular item at many vacation locales, scooters can be found in a number of buggy stores at South Padre Island. These are especially cool as they are easy to park and manuever and provide you with a little more horsepower than walking on foot.

The bottom line is you want to find a mode of transportation that gives you an opportunity to do some sight-seeing and people watching.
